Hematology Laboratory

The Hematology Laboratory provides essential support for preclinical and
translational research by enabling rapid, comprehensive on-site assessment of the physiological status
of animals without the need to rely on external laboratories. The infrastructure has been designed specifically to support
ongoing work with animal models used in both basic and applied research.

The laboratory is equipped with:

A biochemical analyzer capable of measuring a wide range of parameters, including
liver and kidney function markers, glucose levels, proteins, electrolytes, and
metabolic enzymes;
A veterinary hematology analyzer with smear capability, designed for complete
blood count (CBC) with leukocyte population differentiation;
A laboratory blood gas analyzer, which allows for the assessment of acid–base balance, blood gases
(pO₂, pCO₂), lactate concentration, and electrolyte levels from a minimal sample volume.

The ability to perform diagnostics directly on-site allows for swift clinical decision-making
during experimental procedures, monitoring of animals during recovery,
and real-time evaluation of the effects of active substances or surgical interventions
on basic physiological parameters.

The Hematology Diagnostics Laboratory ensures a high standard of analytical quality in line with
preclinical research requirements and constitutes an indispensable element of the comprehensive
experimental infrastructure of the Center for Translational Medicine.
