The Laboratories of the Center for Translational Medicine
The Laboratories of the Center for Translational Medicine create a coherent research environment that integrates veterinary and human medicine within a comprehensive translational research framework. These laboratories not only support fundamental scientific investigations but also play a pivotal role in translating research findings into clinical practice. Close collaboration with the Animal Model Facilities and the CMT Hospital enables the implementation of interdisciplinary research projects and the development of innovative therapies — from concept and preclinical studies to therapeutic applications.
Analyses conducted within the laboratories cover all levels of biological organization — from tissue, cellular, and subcellular to molecular levels. This enables not only an in-depth understanding of physiological and pathological processes but also the development of new therapeutic strategies, innovative drugs, and diagnostic methods.
The laboratories also operate in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards, allowing the execution of studies focused on the safety assessment of active substances, including cytotoxicity tests using the MTT assay. The high quality and reproducibility of the results ensure their applicability in both scientific research and commercial projects.
The structure of the Center for Translational Medicine laboratories includes:
• • Histology Laboratory
A unit dedicated to preparing specimens for both classical and advanced microscopy to support the assessment of pathological, regenerative, and toxicological changes.
• • Molecular Biology Laboratory
A facility specializing in DNA, RNA, and protein analysis using techniques such as ELISA, real-time PCR, Western blotting, and flow cytometry.
• • Cell Culture Laboratory
A unit focused on in vitro research, in vitro including the cultivation of primary and immortalized cell lines and their response to experimental factors.
• • Clean Room Laboratories
Modern controlled-environment facilities dedicated to automated cell culture, cell and nanoparticle sorting, and advanced microscopic imaging.
• Spectrometry and Chemical Analysis Laboratory
A laboratory enabling precise elemental and molecular analysis of samples in toxicological, pharmacological, and environmental research.
• Microbiology Laboratory
A facility dedicated to studies on microorganisms, as well as testing the effectiveness and safety of biologically active substances.
